• Love Local

Visitors to Japan who venture outside of Tokyo, quickly learn that every region from Okinawa to Hokkaido has its own local legends, customs, specialties and irrepressible pride.

AQ worked with Japanese creative community Loftwork and event sponsors Kansai Multimedia Service to launch an online video contest celebrating the unique cultures of Japan’s many regions.

AQ designed a website to launch the contest and host the 100+ submissions as they came in. To jump start the contest, we also created a visual identity system based on simple shapes, which contest participants remixed into their videos.

This website is not viewable online.

  • The Identity

  • Each video featured a short bio of its creator, tools to share with friends, and a stream of one-line shoutouts from admirers.

  • Illustrated backgrounds of wildlife, bullet trains and the great beyond turned each section into its own story.

  • Custom skins for Love Local’s Twitter and YouTube pages
