Summer Roundup

June 25th, 2008
Chris Palmieri

Here’s a quick round up of what we’ve been up to:

  • In April, we worked with the rest of the Art Beat team to launch NY Art Beat. In its dashing purple, NY Art Beat hopes to bring the same comprehensive, neutral art information to New York City that Tokyo has enjoyed for the last four years.
  • In May, we launched Hitotoki Shanghai, with eight excellent stories, lovingly edited by Panthea Lee.
  • The 2nd issue of the Tokyo Art Map is now available at over 250 locations throughout the city. In the 2nd issue we improved the usability and legibility of the event listings, and served up a special selection of events in the “Makunouchi” bento style.
  • This week we welcome Ryan Ruel as our new designer-in-residence for the summer. Coming off a four-year stretch lending his design chops to Chicago,
Ryan will be exploring what the Japanese design scene has to offer and helping us improve and expand upon some of our favorite projects.
